Due to this reason, Deepak never intended on solving the case to save his son. Gowtham sees the murderer in Deepak's house who is revealed to be Deepak's son. Twist- When Deepak meets the other man at the lawn table, the man is actually Gowtham, the policeman who lost his entire career and life because of the burns he experienced during the accident. Five years down the line, he is forced to revisit all the events leading to the accident. Plot- Deepak retires after an accident cuts off his right leg.
Also the major genre shift from being an action-gangster film to a comedy zone post the mid-point. Twist- Karthik uses all the documentation footage he collects and uses it to release a comedy film instead of a gangster film due to Sethu's inability to act. But his secret attempts to scout and conduct research on the mobster fails when he gets caught for snooping.
Plot- An aspiring director tries to research a merciless mobster for making a gangster film. Anbu then explains his loyalty towards Guna. Plot- A proficient carrom player, Anbu, sets foot in the world of crime and joins forces with local gangsters to settle their feuds. One twist leads to another twist and it goes on. Twist- Though there is no single massive twist as such, Maanagaram is filled with loads of unexpected turns in regular intervals and these twists change the dynamic of the story. Plot- Different perspectives of people wherein one, a youngster comes to the city with big dreams to take up an IT job, another follows a youngster who will go to any extreme for the safety of his lover and finally a man, who is threatened by a gang who he ends up fighting away but things take a turn when they set out to seek revenge on him.

Twist- The girl that the boys meet turns out to be an alien and later the old TV that they throw out lands on the policeman who is about to rape Vaembu which in turn saves her from the traumatic situation.
